The last time you made a major purchase you probably compared brands and prices before you made your purchase.  Did you know you can do the same for some medical procedures?

Well you can....

At www.bcidaho.com you can find price ranges for medical procedures based on your location.

Here's How:
  • Go to www.bcidaho.com.
  • Click on Members, upper left hand corner.
  • If you have not registered, you must do so first.  Then enter the username and password you chose.
  • Under "Insurance Tools" click Decision Support Tools.
  • Click Treatment Cost Advisor.
  • Select a category such as "Bones" or a procedure such as "Bone Density Test" and click "Next Step".
  • Enter the age range, gender and zip code of the patient and click "Next Step".
The next screen will show you a range of in-network and out-of-network costs for the procedure and patient description you selected along with the average cost.  The result is the total cost of the procedure.  It does not include your out-of-pocket cost such as deductibles or coinsurance.
Knowing how much a procedure may cost can help you plan for the expense.  It's also useful information to have when you're talking with your doctor.
While you're in the Decision Support Tools you can also compare the costs of prescription drugs and hospital quality.
